Profile
Over two years experience using Front-end web technologies in a variety of fast-paced and creative environments. Able to work well in a team or independently on web projects and always remaining focused on clean code whilst adhering closely to project timeframes. Keen interest in modern web standards & technologies, cross browser compatibility and user experience. - Tasked with implementing code changes and improvements to various clients such as Home Retail Group, Sainsbury’s and Coca Cola.
- Worked from Photoshop design mock-ups to create static web pages using valid, standards based code which performed in various browser environments.
- Created various HTML email templates for marketing projects, ensuring compatibility with various E-mail clients including Outlook 2007.
- Used bug tracking software to work closely with the QA team to fix site issues against a tight deadline.

- Constructed a mini site based on existing designs using front-end technologies.
- Added behavioural elements to the site using DOM Scripting with the jQuery library. Ensured these degraded gracefully to non-JS users.
- Ensured designs were compatible with older browsers such as Safari 2, Firefox 2 and IE6.

- Worked within a very small team of developers and designers on a company intranet and public website.
- Responsible for all front-end code on www.pentland.com and exact duplication of site designs were required in various browser environments.
- Developed front-end code for portlets on a drag and drop intranet system. Utilised the jQuery library to add various layers of user interaction.
- Used subversion (NetBeans) remotely alongside other developers to check in code changes.

- Several small sites required development from Photoshop designs into fully working web pages.
- Wrote all front-end code in a Mac environment and also used PHP to handle form validation and templating.
- Created HTML emails for use in a marketing project.
- Ensured visually complex designs were rendered acceptably in older browsers with the ideals of graceful degradation in mind.

- Responsible for front-end development and bug fixing on www.sainsburys.co.uk whilst working in a small project team.
- Applied changes and fixes using Subversion and ensured cross-browser compatibility on all front-end code, including IE6.

- Part of the front-end development team working in a Java environment. Working closely with project managers and back-end developers to create web applications on the VYRE Unify CMS.
- Used XSL to transform XML data returned from the CMS and Oracle database.
- Provided in-house support for company intranet and other web applications.
- Led a team of 3 other developers on creating a new website application to allow users to update their own content via a web interface.

- Personal web projects
- Creating, owning and maintaining a hugely popular gaming community known as Interlopers.net. The site receives thousands of page visits per day and has an expanding community of 7000+ members. Started in 2004 the site has expanded considerably and I am responsible for all front-end code on the site. Working closely with a PHP developer has allowed various web applications to be built that have been received well by the user base.
- Interests
- Playing drums in band called Fashoda Crisis. We’re quite loud. Also enjoy socialising with friends at various pubs and you can’t beat a bit of Xbox 360 for relaxing!
