Things have changed a bit

Well, if you haven’t visited my site for a while i’m fairly sure you can’t fail to notice the re-design. Indeed there is a lot of pink but luckily I’m a kind fellow and I’ve given you the option to change things about.

If you hadn’t noticed the four little squares in the top right then I urge you to head that way as I wouldn’t like you to feel uncomfortable. Got a colour that suits you? Lovely

I’ve decided to re-launch my portfolio because I didn’t feel my previous design was representing what I am about, which is a clean user experience, beautiful code and a desire to play with certain conventions. I love simple designs and what you see here is my attempt to ensure my portfolio is easy to read at first glance, but has all the juicy info the more you dig about.

I did originally decide to have the whole website lowercase, and up there with the colour swatch you can also see a link allowing you to change the style of casing across the whole site. It’s a fun little feature but I felt I had to enforce normal rules on large blocks of text (such as this blog) as users may miss the link and it’s no fun reading lots of text with no grammar.

I’m quite happy with the flexible content area as well, which scales nicely from 1024x768 right up to big ‘ol widescreens. Not an easy design decision to implement but it works well. I’ve gone to great measures to make sure all my code is as semantic as possible and my site degrades nicely without Javascript. Try it, I dare you!

And of course, my blog is back. It was a bit of a wasteland before but this time I’m not just going to blabber about web topics. I’m opening my creative doors to anything I feel like writing about so hopefully you’ll have some good stuff to read.

The site is still being tweaked (categories and RSS are on the way!) but for now please let me know what you think, good or bad!
